The Historic Ritz Theatre was originally a Martin Movie Theatre. You can still see its past heritage reflected in the stylized MT in the green glass work on the front of the building.
And though the theatre is primarily a playhouse, in recent years we have once again embraced our past and started showing movies here. Once again, the Ritz is the only movie theater in Talladega — whether it is a classic Bogart film or the latest documentary on Muscle Shoals.
Christmas Season 2020
First Family Services in collaboration with the Historic Ritz Theatre will present a free screening of the Christmas classic POLAR EXPRESS at 10:00 am. Seating is limited to 270 on a first-come-first serve basis, and The Ritz will be in full antiviral protocol. Masks will also be required to be worn by all who attend. Christmas bell souvenirs will be handed out, plus cookies and hot chocolate will be served afterwards. Arrangements have been made for a special appearance by Santa Claus to greet and take photos with everyone following this free family holiday event.
