AFTERNOON OF PRAISE SUPPORTS LOCAL CHARITIES FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

August 11, 2015 Both contemporary and traditional Christian music sounds will be featured in An Afternoon of Praise 2015, slated for Sunday, August 23rd at Talladega’s Historic Ritz Theatre. This third annual benefit concert, which supports important local charities, will feature more than 100 singers and musicians from throughout North Central Alabama. Performances will begin at both 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Ticket cost is a tax deductible $15 donation and at least one bag on non-perishable foods. Tickets may be purchased from vocalists and musicians, at The Ritz Theatre, First Bank of Alabama, and First United Methodist Church of Talladega.

These popular family concerts will feature songs written by Christian artists Matt Maher, Chris Tomlin, Ed Cash, Stephan Sharp, Michael W. Smith, Jesse Reeves, Jonas Myrin, Matt Redman, Rita Baloche, Tommy Walker, Tim Hughes, Matthew Hooper, Richie Fike, Travis Ryan, Toby McKeehan, Jamie Moore, and Cary Barlowe.

With the exception of two songs, all music was arranged and orchestrated by Dove Award-nominated Christian music composer Richard Kingsmore www.richardkingsmore.com who will also conduct the choir and orchestra.

Admission is a tax deductible $15 ticket donation and a bag of non-perishable food items. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to The Red Door Kitchen and all non-perishable food items collected go directly to The Samaritan House – Talladega, Alabama. If you pay by check, just make it out to First United Methodist Church of Talladega and put Afternoon of Praise on the “for” line. Your cancelled check is your tax deductible receipt.

“The Red Door Kitchen provides over 36,000 meals per year to individuals who for whatever reason are unable to prepare a noon meal,” said board chairman Billy Sparkman. “This is a tremendous blessing to our board members, our staff, and our volunteers who deliver the meals each day and we are tremendously thankful to our community for supporting this ministry. As the largest single donor to Red Door Kitchen last year, the Afternoon of Praise made possible the continuation of our service to the Talladega community and we cannot say THANK YOU enough for all the love and support this program provides.”

Charles Montgomery, president of The Samaritan House – Talladega, Alabama, said “The food collected at the Afternoon of Praise is the second largest food collection we have each year. Because of the influx of canned and dry goods, we do not purchase any food from the Community Food Bank for a couple of months and we can use those savings to help more clients with delinquent utility bills.”
